Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Statue of Liberty; Radio City; the Empire State Building - all must-visit New York destinations. Now you can add Tim Burton-themed bar Beetle House to that prestigious list.

There is indeed an East village hangout opening that is solely dedicated to the popular director's many films including Edward Scissorhands, Mars Attacks! and, of course, the 1988 horror comedy Beetlejuice.

Fans will be able to scour a food and drink menu layered with concoctions inspired by Burton's characters. The venue's website - which confirms the locale will be opening this week - bears the tagline: 'It's Halloween all year long!'

Food wise, you can order the Sweeney Beef (inspired by Burton's take on Sweeney Todd), Victor Van Pork (The Corpse Bride) and, the dish we're predicting will prove most popular, Edward Burger Hands (do you even need us to tell you?).

The many cocktails on offer include The Headless Horseman (Sleepy Hollow), the Jack Skellington (the Burton-produced Nightmare Before Christmas) and the Big Fish Bowl.

Beetle House's owners last year opened a Will Ferrell-inspired venue they named Stay Classy New York in reference to Anchorman.

Watch out for the sand worms.
