Actress-comedian Tiffany Haddish may have just revealed who allegedly bit Beyoncé by smiling after an interviewer brought up an actress' name.

During an interview with Haddish, The Hollywood Reporter writer Lacey Rose addresses the topic of Beyoncé, who became part of a viral mystery when it was revealed someone had allegedly tried to "bite" her.

Haddish asks Rose's opinion of who she thinks the culprit is, to which she replies "Sanaa Lathan," an actress who was one of the prime suspects of the internet mystery during the spring.

The 38-year-old star then smiles and says, "I'm super good friends with her stepmom and her dad [Stan, a producer-director], and they were mad at me. They were like, 'Why would you do this to the family? You know, black actresses, you guys have to stick together, it's so hard for you guys to get work as it is, why would you try to ruin her career?'"

"But I didn't try to ruin her career," Haddish says of Lathan. "I never said her name! I was just trying to say how Beyoncé kept me from goin' to jail that night. I coulda just shut my whole career down."

When Rose wonders aloud if there's been any more "fallout" from Haddish telling this story, the actress says it's been "the opposite."

"The other day, someone was saying, like, 'Oh my God, you should keep your mouth shut 'cause now you're never gonna be invited to parties,' but I got invited to way more parties after that," she recalls. "It's ridiculous how many parties. 'Can you come to my party?' 'Can you come to my thing?' They want me to talk about something at their thing 'cause they think, like, 'This is gonna put me back on if Tiffany says something.'"

Haddish first revealed the alleged Beyoncé-biting incident to GQ in March, about an actress who "was doing the mostest" and "bit Beyoncé in the face" at a party last December.

Lathan initially responded to the rumours with a tweet jokingly:"Under no circumstances did I bite Beyoncé and if I did it would’ve been a love bite."

But later, in speaking with Health, she flat-out denied the allegations saying, "I think [the rumour is the] most absurd thing I’ve ever been involved with. Thank God I’ve been in this business for 20 years and have had so many rumours about me. They used to devastate me in my 20s, but in order to survive in this business, you just have to let it roll. I adore Beyoncé. I would never do anything malicious like that - to her, or to anyone. It’s so bizarre."

The Independent has contacted Lathan for a comment.
