From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

First up is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, featuring the adorable Baby Groot. Then, teaming up with Sony, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is getting his own film, Homecoming, featuring an extended cameo from Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man.
Last, but certainly not least, comes Thor: Ragnarok, the third - and likely final - film centred on the Asguardian warrior. Recently, it was confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch will appear in the film as Doctor Strange, alongside Thor, Loki, and the Hulk.
Now, we finally have a plot synopses and official photo, confirming how the story will be influenced by the infamous Planet Hulk storyline.
Playing the villain Hela is two-time Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett, while Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins will reprise their roles from previous Marvel films.
Alongside Blanchett, new cast members include Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson and Karl Urban, as well as Sam Neill, who will reportedly have a minor role.
Directed by Hunt for the Wilderpeople’s Taika Waititi, Thor: Ragnarok reaches cinemas 3 November 2017.
