Sunday Night TV seems to be producing a lot of potential Bonds at the moment; first there was Aiden Turner in Poldark, then James Norton in War and Peace, and now Tom Hiddleston for his role in The Night Manager.

His role as Jonathon Pine in the BBC’s adaptation of John le Carré’s novel has seen the bookies slash odd on the actor replacing Daniel Craig to 10/1, with only Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, Damian Lewis, the aforementioned Aiden Turner and Henry Cavil with better odds.

Having previously admitted he sees the similarities between Pine and 007, Hiddleston added fuel to the fire by calling it an ‘extraordinary opportunity’ he wouldn’t say no to.

“Time magazine ran a poll and there were, like, 100 actors on the list, including Angelina Jolie," he told The Sunday Times. "But, yes, it’s nice to be included in the 100.

“I’m a huge fan of the series. We all went to see Spectre when we were shooting Skull Island in Hawaii. I simply love the theme tune, the tropes and the mythology. I love the whole thing. If it ever came knocking, it would be an extraordinary opportunity.

“And I’m very aware of the physicality of the job. I would not take it lightly.”

Craig previously said he’d rather “slash his wrists” than play Bond again, which many people have taken to mean he wants to quit the role. Here’s everyone in the running to be the next Bond.
