Star Wars: The Last Jedi: Tom Hardy deleted cameo will feature on Blu-ray
The actor's appearance as a stormtrooper ended up on the cutting room floor
It turns out Tom Hardy did play a role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi only to have it cut from the finished film.
The actor played a stormtrooper, following in the footsteps of Daniel Craig who played a member of the First Order in JJ Abrams' 2015 film The Force Awakens. However, fans will have to wait a little longer to see the Peaky Blinders stars appearance - it will reportedly feature in a version of Rian Johnson's film released on DVD and Blu-ray in 2018.
SlashFilm reports that Hardy's character possessed a thick southern accent who, after initially appearing threatening, turns out to be an ally of Finn (John Boyega).
“I know who you are…. FN 2187!” Hardy's character reportedly says. “Damn boy, I never took you for officer material.”
The Last Jedi features a fair number of cameos (full list here) with appearances from Joseph Gordon-Levitt, The Leftovers star Justin Theroux and Gareth Edwards, director of Star Wars prequel Rogue One.
Boyega confirmed that Princes William and Harry both filmed scenes as stormtroopers in one of the scenes featuring Benicio del Toro.
