From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Simon Bird, who plays nerdy Will McKenzie in the hit TV series The Inbetweeners, is actually the most troublesome actor on set, his fellow cast members have revealed.

Co-stars Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison, who play Simon, Jay and Neil respectively, said that Bird “planted ideas” into their heads on set and then sat back to watch the mayhem unfold.

Directors Iain Morris and Damon Beesley said the actor tried to stir up trouble on the set of The Inbetweeners 2 movie in Australia, recalling an incident when he tried to trick Simon actor Joe Thomas to jump into the harbour.

“We were like, ‘please don’t jump into Sydney Harbour as we’re about to start filming,’” Morris said.

Joe Thomas, who plays the neurotic and hopelessly romantic Simon in the comedy series, admitted to being the most sensible of the group.

The actor said he is “fundamentally obedient” and will only join in if his other actor friends are messing around because he’s “weak”.

“I don’t really like getting into trouble. I mean, I will join in they’re all mucking around but that’s because I’m weak,” he told a Q&A at the Apple Store in Regent Street.

Directors Morris and Beesley, who have been producing the series since it started in 2008, also admitted they were a bad influence on set.

“We were like terrible parents…we tried to encourage them to be as naughty as possible between takes and ultimately someone else would have to deal with it,” Beesley said.
