Angelina Jolie has reportedly entered talks to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Should the deal go through, the Oscar-winning actor would join The Eternals, the upcoming superhero team adventure directed by The Rider‘s Chloe Zhao.

The Hollywood Reporter notes that Jolie’s role has not been confirmed, though the film is said to involve a love story between “Ikaris, a man fueled by cosmic energy, and Sersi, who relishes moving amongst humans”.

The Eternals centres on the eponymous group of near-immortal beings as well as their villainous offshoot the Deviants.

Jolie has never starred in a superhero film before, though she was in an adaptation of Mark Millar’s comic book Wanted.

The actor has two other projects with Marvel’s parent company Disney on the way: Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, coming later this year, and The One and Only Ivan, an animation which she is producing.

Other projects include Brave director Brenda Chapman’s upcoming film Come Away, and Those Who Wish Me Dead, from Wind River and Hell or High Water writer Taylor Sheridan.

Marvel has not confirmed whether Jolie has been cast in The Eternals. The superhero studio has remained quiet on nearly all film coming out after Avengers: Endgame (minus Spider-Man: Far From Home). Read about all the sequels and spin-offs we expect to make up Phase Four here.
