From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Villains featured in the "Enemies Unite" trailer include Elektro and the Green Goblin, but audiences will have to wait a little longer to catch their first glimpse of Paul Giamatti’s Rhino.
Andrew Garfield returns to the spandex-ed lead as Peter Parker and Jamie Foxx takes up the role of Elecktro.
Elektro starts life as Parker’s fixated fanboy colleague Max Dillon but, when his attempts to emulate Spidey fail, he becomes his hero’s arch-enemy.
Directed by Marc Webb, the Marvel film promises pulsing special effects, tense, fast-paced action and strong chemistry between the cast.
"You know what it is I love about being Spider-Man?" asks Peter Parker. "Everything."
In the shorter 30-second Super Bowl trailer, Emma Stone's Gwen Stacey can be seen falling before her superhero love interest catches her and hurtles through the roof of a skyscraper.
Rumours have been circulating that Gwen is to be killed off and the trailer does hint at this possibility, with a glimpse of Peter screaming.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits US cinemas on 2 May this year, with the third and fourth instalments scheduled for 10 June 2015 and 4 May 2018 respectively.
