From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Warner Bros has posted the first trailer for The Accountant, a film from Warrior director Gavin O’Connor starring Ben Affleck, Anna Kendrick and J.K. Simmonds.

It’s about an unsuspecting accountant who is secretly an assassin, but, in spite of this, it actually looks pretty good, the trailer having a very David Fincher vibe to it. Also, it's set to Radiohead's always spine-tingling 'Everything In It's Right Place'

The Accountant sees Affleck working with Warner Bros once more after Batman v Superman, this movie having pushed back his next directorial project, Live by Night.

Here’s the official synopsis:

'Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) is a math savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Behind the cover of a small-town CPA office, he works as a freelance accountant for some of the world’s most dangerous criminal organizations. With the Treasury Department’s Crime Enforcement Division, run by Ray King (J.K. Simmons), starting to close in, Christian takes on a legitimate client: a state-of-the-art robotics company where an accounting clerk (Anna Kendrick) has discovered a discrepancy involving millions of dollars. But as Christian uncooks the books and gets closer to the truth, it is the body count that starts to rise.'

The Accountant is in cinemas 14 October.
