From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The first trailer for Terminator: Dark Fate has been released, teasing out what’s to come when Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton reprise their iconic roles in the franchise.

Both actors feature in the two-minute clip released on Thursday, though the rest of the cast, including new Terminator recruits Gabriel Luna, Mackenzie Davis and Natalia Reyes get plenty of screen time.

Hamilton’s Sarah Connor can be seen confronting Luna’s, David’s and Reyes’s characters – respectively, a liquid metal Terminator, an android who insists she’s human, and the new Terminator’s target.

Schwarzenegger appears towards the end of the clip as Connor seeks out T-800 “Model 101”, presumably to ask for his help.

Terminator: Dark Fate serves as a sequel to The Terminator 2: Judgement Day, omitting all other subsequent installments in the franchise.

It is being co-produced by James Cameron, who co-created the franchise and directed its first two films.

Terminator: Dark Fate marks the first time since 1991 that Hamilton is returning as Connor.
