Claims that the Rocketman star will play the mutant (famously portrayed by Hugh Jackman) have swirled since mid-July.
Some fans have vocally expressed their enthusiasm at the potential addition to the MCU.
Egerton told Variety he would “love” to be part of a Marvel film in the future, though he didn’t express any certainty regarding the role of Wolverine specifically.
“I love Marvel and I love the movies and I’d love the excuse to get in shape,” he said. “I’d love to be a part of it, whether [Wolverine] is realistic or not, I don’t know.”
Jamie Bell, who plays Bernie Taupin in Rocketman, told the platform that since Egerton can play Elton John, portraying Wolverine would be well within his capacities.
Egerton was previously seen in the Kingsman franchise (2014 and 2017). Rocketman was released in May this year.
