Taron Egerton got "physical" with his co-star Richard Madden while filming a sex scene for the upcoming Elton John biopic Rocketman.

Egerton, 29, plays John in the musical film and Bodyguard star Madden appears as John Reid, the pop icon's former manager who was also his boyfriend for five years.

"I probably shouldn't be telling you this but we have a sex scene. We went to some places together and got quite physical," Egerton told Bang Showbiz of the sequence.

The Kingsman star said the film, which is due to come out in April 2019, has a "zeitgeisty" feel due to its "grown-up nature" combined with its musical aspect.

Egerton also mentioned filming a sex scene for the forthcoming biopic in an interview with MTV.

While he didn't name Madden, he said the sequence involved "quite a well-known man".

"I think the film feels like something that the gay community especially can really take ownership of," Egerton told the network.

The actor recently opened up about his sexuality in an interview with the Radio Times, explaining that some wondered whether he was gay after he praised a male friend's looks in an Instagram post.

"One of the lads was at my London flat and I Instagrammed a picture of him and said, 'Look at this cutie,' and a million outlets reported I was coming out as gay," he said.

"I’m not gay but two of my mates came out when I was 15 and it was a joy to support them because, as a group, we are all secure in who we are."
