From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Just days after the release of Batman v Superman, the internet got word that Suicide Squad reshoots were happening.
The implication was that Warner Bros were disappointed with the serious tone of Zack Snyder’s film and pleased by the initial, positive response to the first Suicide Squad trailer which contained lots of humour.
After the second trailer debuted at the MTV Movie Awards - once again showing off the lighter side of the DCEU - director David Ayer decided to rubbish those reports.
He Tweeted out “Suicide Squad 'reshoots for humour' is silly. When a studio loves your movie and asks what else you want, go for it!” followed by the hashtags “ThanksWB” and “Moreaction”.
In the latest trailer, we are given a much better look at both Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn and Jared Leto’s Joker, as well as some up close action from Ben Affleck’s Batman.
Suicide Squad’s cast also includes Will Smith, Leto, Robbie, Joel Kinnanman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Jay Hernandez and Adele Akinnuoye-Agbaje.
Meanwhile, Batman v Superman has almost topped $800 million at the box office, yet looks like it will fall way short of making the same profit predecessor Man of Steel made.
