Your support makes all the difference.Suicide Squad director David Ayer has admitted the one thing he regrets most about the finished film.
The filmmaker, whose credits include End of Watch and Fury, has been candid about his views on the critically-maligned 2016 DC film hinting that his treatment of villainous character the Joker - played by Jared Leto - could have been better.
Cinema audiences were left disappointed by the fact Leto's Joker had a far smaller part to play than was teased in the film's trailers ahead of release - something that surprised even Leto. The film's main villain ended up being Cara Delevingne's character, Enchantress.
In response to a Twitter user who stated he should have made the Joker the film's main antagonist, Ayer responded humbly: “Believe me. I agonize over this. Yes. Joker should have been main bad guy.”
Despite this, he stands by the film, describing it as “a big fun silly movie.”
“It could have been a bigger success had I done it a little different. But it did great and made an impression.”
It was previously announced that Ayer will oversee Suicide Squad spinoff Gotham City Sirens which is expected to see him reunite with Margot Robbie who'll reprise the role of Harley Quinn. Gavin O'Connor (Warrior) will take over as director of Suicide Squad 2.
His next film Bright, starring Will Smith, Joel Edgerton and Noomi Rapace, will be released on Netflix in December.
