From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The cast of Star Wars: The Force Awakens teamed up for The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to perform a medley of the franchise's most iconic themes.

Starting off with Fallon himself, and the show's house band The Roots, things kicked off with John Williams' classic "Main Title"; they were soon joined by Daisy Ridley (who plays Rey), John Boyega (Finn), and Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron). Adam Driver, the man behind The Force Awakens' highly anticipated villain Kylo Ren, then steps in for Darth Vader's own iconic theme "The Imperial March"; he's then joined by another of the film's primary antagonists, Gwendoline Christie, who plays Captain Phasma.

Then, time to switch things up: Chewbacca, C-3PO, and new droid BB-8 take on A New Hope's Cantina Band. The Force Awakens has been reported to feature its own cantina song, though Williams declined to pen the track; leading director J.J. Abrams to call on the creator of Broadway hit Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda. Will Miranda be able to top one of the catchiest tracks in cinematic history?

For the finale, Lupita Nyong'o, Carrie Fisher, and (surprise treat) Harrison Ford joined the rest of the cast to round up the end of the film's main theme.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits UK theatres 17 December.
