From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. The duo, as Star Wars fans will know, were originally set to direct the anthology film before parting ways with the project mid-shoot, only for Ron Howard to take over.
Speaking the third annual GLAS Animation Festival Friday in California, the duo behind Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The LEGO Movie, and 21 Jump Street revealed how their names will appear on the movie.
“We were really proud of the many contributions we made to that film,” Miller said, according to Variety. “In light of the creative differences, we elected to take an executive producer credit.”
Lord and Miller added how they wished everyone on the project the best of luck. The directors initially said after leaving the project: “Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew.”
Kathleen Kennedy, the head of LucasFilm, said: “Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it’s become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we’ve decided to part ways.”
Meanwhile, Howard recently spoke about why he took on the project despite the production nightmare, saying: “I was reluctant, but I also began to feel that I could help.”
