Your support makes all the difference.Director JJ Abrams has revealed that the finished script of his new Star Wars film was almost sold on eBay earlier this year.
The director was speaking on Good Morning America when he said that the error was caused by one of the actors starring in ninth instalment, The Rise of Skywalker.
“One of our actors, I won’t say which one – I want to, but I won’t – left it under their bed and it was found by someone who was cleaning their place,” Abrams said.
“It was then given to someone else, who went to sell it on eBay.”
Fortunately for Abrams, a Disney employee saw the script on offer on the bidding site and “got it back before it sold”.
The director also confirmed that he completely finished work on the film on Sunday (24 November).
Abrams returns as director following 2015’s The Force Awakens. He recently told Total Film that it was Rian Johnson’s work on The Last Jedi that enabled him to take more risks in the new film.
“I found myself doing things that I’m not sure I would have been as daring to do on [The Force Awakens],” he said, adding: “Rian helped remind me that that’s why we’re on these movies – not to just do something that you’ve seen before.”
Star Wars 9 will undoubtedly feature plenty of surprises for fans that have been waiting years for the final chapter in the new trilogy, but one twist may have been revealed courtesy of a deleted tweet.
The post in question came from the official Disneyland account. Fortunately, a keen-eyed fan was on hand to screenshot the message, which seems to be even more evidence that a former character will return in the new film.
Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker is released 19 December.
