This election is still a dead heat, according to most polls. In a fight with such wafer-thin margins, we need reporters on the ground talking to the people Trump and Harris are courting. Your support allows us to keep sending journalists to the story.

The Independent is trusted by 27 million Americans from across the entire political spectrum every month. Unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock you out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. But quality journalism must still be paid for.

The latest first official Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer has been out for less than 24 hours but already the internet is awash with video parodies and reactions.

Mandatory Lego remake? Check. Mathew McConaughey's reaction? Check. A video of 9 people simultaneously laughing, screaming and crying while watching? You betcha.

Here, for your viewing pleasure, are the best:

Scene-by-scene Lego Remake

For every great trailer/movie scene there is a remade Lego retelling. This one is brilliant and went online just six hours after the original trailer, almost as if they had their bricks at the ready…

Mathew McConaughey Intersteller Reaction

Mathew McConaughey is slowly becoming one of the internet’s go to memes; every role he plays has at least one moment just ready to become an internet sensation.

This reaction scene from Intersteller is bound to become a classic, and judging by the popularity of this video, the internet seems to agree. Expect more ‘McConaughey reacting to [insert trailer name here]’ videos in to come

Live Star Wars panel reaction

Well, not quite the internet reacting but a room full of Star Wars super fans going crazy. This was at the Star Wars Celebration Anaheim which took place yesterday, and was the first time the trailer had been shown to the public. You need to watch this even if just for the reception Han and Chewie get.

8 Youtuber’s reactions

There is an abundance of Goggle-box like reaction videos to the new trailer on YouTube so to save you time we found the one with the most people in it. Watch out for the girl centre bottom who ends up in floods of tears, and the guy middle right who can’t stay seated.
