From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The confirmed Star Wars Episode 7 cast saw more old faces than expected, with Han Solo, Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker set to return in JJ Abrams sequel along with Chewbacca, C-3PO and R2-D2, but what about Lando?

Billy Dee Williams' name was absent from the list posted on StarWars.com, despite the Cloud City boss redeeming himself in Return of the Jedi, playing a key part in destroying the Death Star and being there at the film's close.

His omission has irked many fans, leading to many tweets questioning how and why Lando is not in the frame when so many of his Rebel Alliance peers are.

"The Star Wars VII cast needs more Lando" one user wrote, with another adding that Disney would be "crazy" not to include him in some way.

The casting announcement doesn't mean the character won't feature in some fashion however.

Lando didn't arrive in the original movies until The Empire Strikes Back, so it is possible he could be re-introduced later in the sequel trilogy.

Another rumour sees new cast addition John Boyega playing his son, with Williams previously saying he hopes that Lando's son will feature as one of the new up and coming Jedis.
