The Spanish voice actor behind a former version of Spider-Man might have just given away a revelation about the new film.
Spider-Man: No Way Home will be released in December 2021 and, since production began last year, the rumour mill has been in overdrive regarding its plot.
Casting announcements, on-set photos and lead star Tom Holland’s cryptic comments have led fans to believe that the film will tackle a live-action version of the Multiverse, featuring an array of characters from previous Spider-Man films, dead and alive.
While the recasting of both Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx in the villainous roles they played in previous non-Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man films corroborates this, there has been no official word on whether Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield would be appearing as their versions of the web-slinger alongside Holland in the sequel.
However, it now seems as if one will show up at least. According to Spanish dub actor Roger Pera, Sony has approached him to perform the voice work for the new film. Pera was the Spanish voice for Maguire’s character in the Sam Raimi films.
Speaking to podcast El Sótano del Planet, Pera, who didn’t namecheck Spider-Man or Maguire specifically, was asked: “Do you know if you have to dub an upcoming Spider-Man movie anytime soon?”
Pera replied: “There was a moment when I thought: this is fake, but yes, this is going to happen, I don’t know when, but we are going to work on it.”
Twitter user @cebapuerta caught the interaction, and notes that the interview was deleted and then re-added with these lines edited out of the recording.
Fans also believe that Miles Morales, the animated character voiced by Shameik Moore in Sony’s Oscar-winning film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, will appear in some form following the reveal of No Way Home’s logo.

The film’s title seems to be placed within the country of Puerto Rico; in the film, Morales is of African-American and Puerto Rican descent.
Spider-Man: No Way Home will be released in cinemas on 17 December 2021.
