Nerdist seems to have discerned who she'll be playing thanks to the junior novel companion to the upcoming Marvel film, and her surname hints at a surprise connection to one of the film's main characters.
Marvel is clearly keeping her identity a secret for a reason so if you want to remain in the dark, now's the time to stop reading.
The book reveals Zendaya's character's full name - Michelle Toomes. This may mean nothing to laidback fans, however, Marvel diehards will recognise that surname: Toomes is also the surname of Adrian perhaps better known as Homecoming's villain, The Vulture (Michael Keaton).Toomes. This development suggests that Zendaya is playing The Vulture's daughter which corroborates the actress' words that she is playing neither Mary-Jane Watson or Peter Parker's love interest.
Tom Holland's lead debut as the superhero arrives 7 July. Robert Downey Jr and Marisa Tomei also star as does Chris Evans who'll appear in a cameo as Captain America.
