A filming location for Spider-Man 3 is causing confusion and frustration in equal measure.

It has been reported that the new Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel will shoot at the same school seen in the previous two films.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is claiming that the Marvel film has been given special permission by the state's school board to film at two different locations, which both previously doubled as Peter Parker’s school in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home.

This permission has been granted despite the fact the board is "currently not accepting filming locations due to the Covid pandemic".

According to the report, a $50,000 incentive helped with the decision.

Parents of pupils attending these schools are said to be "frustrated" by the development as some students are still unable to return.

Parker’s school will play a key role in the new film, something that may confuse Marvel fans.

In an email obtained by the same outlet, the film's location manager, Ian Easterbrook, described  Parker’s school as a location that is "vital to the success of this next film".

Considering the mid-credits scene of Far From Home, which sees Parker go on the run after being unveiled as, not only Spider-Man, but as the one responsible for the murder of Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal), it was assumed that Parker wouldn’t be sticking around for lessons.

This email suggests otherwise, though. It indicates that there could be a temporary reprieve for Parker at the beginning of the film – perhaps the film starts a bit before Far From Home's mid-credits scene bombshell?

It could also mean that the school is the place the film's climactic battle, which looks set to feature Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Electro (Jamie Foxx) and potentially other members of the Sinister Six, will occur.

Regardless, this is the first piece of evidence we have that Spider-Man 3 probably wont be going the way fans are expecting.

Spider-Man 3 – starring Tom Holland, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon – will be released in December 2021.
