From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. After what feels like an eternity of waiting, the first full trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story has been released, teasing a race down the Kessel Run and a deceitful origin story.

A 40-second TV-spot debuted during the Super Bowl, the latest trailer coming less than 24-hours later, released during ABC’s Good Morning America.

Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, and Chewbacca all feature, while the titular nerf herder will be played by Alden Ehrenreich.

Considering the movie is set for release 25 May, fans have wondered why the trailer took so long to appear online. Many have speculated that the firing of original directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller midway through the shoot — replaced by Ron Howard — was the main factor.

The official synopses for the spin-off reads: "Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy.

“Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future co-pilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga's most unlikely heroes.”

Solo: A Star Wars Story is still set to open in cinemas 25 May.
