From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Simon Pegg is living every nerd’s dream. Not only has he starred in Star Trek and Mission Impossible, but he’s soon to have a minor cameo in the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Even though he’s a massive Star Wars fan– having previously starred as C3PO in a hilarious sketch opposite Nick Frost – Pegg still has his quibbles with the series, in particular the prequels.

During an interview with MTV, the Shaun of the Dead star was asked to rank all six Star Wars films, from worst to best, in under a minute.

He then proceeds to list off the films, starting with Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, and gives a brief explanation as to why he dislikes/likes it. Watch the clip below.

It soon becomes apparent that Pegg really doesn’t like the prequels as at the end, having ranking them as the worst of the six, he declares “I hate the prequels.,” a statement many of us probably agree with.

His ordering of the original flims is slightly more controversial, placing Return of the Jedi in third, Star Wars; A New Hope in second and the darker Empire Strikes Back in first.

While legions of fans do believe Empire Strikes Back is a better film, with its darker atmosphere and the revelation that Luke is Darth Vader's son, many also think that no film will ever be able to top the original.

Simon Pegg’s Star Wars rankings from best to worst

1. Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

2. Episode IV: A New Hope

3. Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

4. Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

5. Episode II: Attack of the Clones

6. Episode I: The Phantom Menace
