Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings

An eagle-eyed Marvel fan has spotted a Captain America Easter egg hidden away in the Shang-Chi trailer.

Upon viewing the newly released look at forthcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, some fans took a screenshot of a scene that features a very recognizable Marvel prop in the background.

Look closely and you’ll see Captain America’s shield hidden in the background of one shot – the one that’s currently being used in Disney Plus TV show The Falcon and The Winter Soldier by John Walker.

“Is...is that John Walkers shield?,” asked a user on Twitter, inspiring a thread of debate.

“Sure looks like it,” wrote another fan in reply.

The character of US soldier Walker was introduced as the replacement of former Captain America, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), in the MCU. In the series, which premiered in March, Walker is portrayed by Wyatt Russell.

How the shield will make it from that show into Shang-Chi remains to be seen.

Simu Liu leads the news film as the martial arts master, who will face off against the Ten Rings organization and its leader, the Mandarin.

As The Verge points out, the Ten Rings organization has existed for some time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, first appearing in 2008’s Iron Man, and spoofed by a copy-cat group in Iron Man 3. Shang-Chi will reveal the group for the first time.

The teaser trailer arrived on Liu’s birthday. In celebration, the actor wrote, “Whoever said that you could only RECEIVE presents on your birthday? Today, I’m giving you your VERY FIRST LOOK at the teaser poster for @ShangChi and the Legend of the Ten Rings!!”

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings arrives in theaters on 3 September.
