The 2013 film saw Rogen, James Franco and Danny McBride, along with stars including Watson and Rihanna, play heightened versions of themselves who experience the apocalypse while attending a Hollywood party.
During production, a Tumblr user who claimed to be an extra on the film alleged that Watson had walked off the set due to her discomfort over a scene that takes place towards the end of the movie.
The scene featured McBride embracing cannibalism, and a gimp mask-wearing Channing Tatum – playing himself – serving as his prisoner on a leash.
Asked whether the rumour that Watson “stormed off” the set was true, in a new profile for British GQ, Rogen clarified what occurred.
“I mean, I don’t look back on that and think, ‘How dare she do that?’ You know? I think sometimes when you read something, when it comes to life it doesn’t seem to be what you thought it was,” the actor and filmmaker explained.

He continued: “It was not some terrible ending to our relationship. She came back the next day to say goodbye. She helped promote the film. No hard feelings and I couldn’t be happier with how the film turned out in the end.”
Rogen also suggested that Watson’s instincts about the scene were correct, and that the finished cut of the scene was far tamer than what she had glimpsed on set.
“She was probably right,” he said. “It was probably funnier the way we ended up doing it.”
The Independent has reached out to Watson’s representative for comment.
A spokesperson for the former Harry Potter actor recently denied claims that she had retired from acting.
