From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

For avid fans of The Hunger Games the wait is over... well, sort of. Cookie Monster and other Sesame Street characters have created a parody version Catching Fire, the second installment of the blockbuster franchise.

In the short spoof video, Cookie Monster wears a wig and takes on the role of 'Cookieness Evereat', who participates in 'The Hungry Games'.

Cookieness races through the jungle solving puzzles and identifying healthy foods in a race against the clock. She is joined by her friends, which includes a piece of bread called 'Pita' in reference to the character Peeta Mellark.

This is not the first time Sesame Street has poked fun at a serious film or television programme, most recently the Muppets sent up drama series Homeland.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth and will be released this week. The film is based on a trilogy of books of the same name by Suzanne Collins, and the new film is anticipated to be even better than the first installment.
