Actor died from respiratory failure caused by pneumonia, an irregular heart rate and old age

Sean Connery died of pneumonia and heart failure, according to his death certificate.

The legendary actor, who is best known for playing James Bond, died while sleeping at his home in the Bahamas on 31 October. He was 90 years old.

According to Connery’s death certificate, which was obtained by TMZ, the actor died from respiratory failure caused by pneumonia, old age and atrial fibrillation, an irregular heart rate which can increase the risk of heart-related complications.

While Connery’s cause of death was not initially announced at his time of death, it was believed that the actor had been unwell for a long period of time.

This was confirmed by his son Jason, who told the BBC: “We are all working at understanding this huge event as it only happened so recently, even though my dad has been unwell for some time.”

His widow Micheline Roqubrune has said that her late husband’s ashes will be scattered in his homeland of Scotland in the future, as per his wishes.

Connery was most famous for playing James Bond, a role he made his own in seven films from 1962’s Dr No up until Never Say Never Again in 1983.

He also won an Oscar for Brian De Palma’s 1987 gangster film The Untouchables.
