At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. “I can confirm that Scarlett and Romain are engaged. They haven’t chosen a date for the wedding,” Johansson's publicist Marcel Pariseau said today.
According to People magazine, the 28-year-old actor accepted boyfriend Dauriac’s proposal after they had been dating for nine months.
Promoting her new film, Under The Skin, at the 70th annual Venice Film Festival on Tuesday, Johansson was pictured displaying a vintage Art Deco engagement ring.
Dauriac, a former journalist, who now runs a creative agency.
The couple began dating in November 2012 after being introduced by mutual friends.
The Avengers star was formerly married to Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds. The couple wed in 2008 before officially divorcing three years later.
"I don't like jealous behavior," she told Marie Claire magazine in an interview earlier this year. "It's really unattractive because it shows a sort of insecurity."
Johansson came to prominence following her performances in films such as Lost in Translation, Girl with a Pearl Earring and Match Point.
