Rocketman trailer: Taron Egerton stars in first trailer for Elton John biopic
The Dexter Fletcher-directed movie co-stars Jamie Bell, Richard Madden and Bryce Dallas Howard
Despite spending 50 years in the spotlight, Elton John has somehow found himself busier than ever.
Not only is the iconic singer currently making his way through a 300-date world tour, but he’s also co-producing the upcoming biopic Rocketman, the first trailer for which has finally landed.
Kingsman and Eddie the Eagle actor Taron Egerton stars as Elton in the fantastical tale, which will cover the musician’s rise from prodigal pianist to global superstar while “stripping back the glitter”.
Dexter Fletcher – who recently replaced Bryan Singer as director of Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody – will direct Rocketman, with Jamie Bell, Richard Madden and Bryce Dallas Howard all co-starring.
Earlier this year, Elton revealed his retirement plans, confirming he will play no more live shows following his Farewell, Yellow Brick Road World Tour.
Meanwhile, Egerton will next appear in the upcoming adaptation of Robin Hood, playing the titular character. Fellow cast members include Jamie Foxx, Ben Mendelsohn, and Eve Hewson.
Rocketman reaches cinemas 31 May 2019.
