A giant mural of the fictional OmniCorp’s ED-209 from the RoboCop franchise has appeared in east London as this year’s reboot of the film hits cinemas.
Created by street art collective End of The Line on the behest of the film’s multi national conglomerate (in the guise of distributors Studio Canal), the graffiti work stands 50 feet tall.
Keeping watch over Shoreditch, the piece was completed in just two days by artist Jim Vision, and took 50 cans of spray paint to produce.
“The biggest challenge was painting in the peak of winter, and just when the storms were picking up, on the top of a fully extended, wobbly cherry picker. It makes you appreciate life,” he told The Independent.
“I hope that people feel that multinational corporations are 'protecting' them. This gives law enforcers the option to safeguard the streets with an ED209 rather than water cannons.”
