From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Ricky Gervais says he has "locked picture" for upcoming film Special Correspondents after wrapping the movie in July.
Writing on his website, he said there is still work to be done for the soundtrack and visual effects, which will take "another few weeks' work", but the major work for the film appears to have been completed..
"It's turned out great I think," he wrote. "Even though it would certainly be billed as a comedy, it’s not a big broad loud obvious one… it’s a bit satirical. A bit dramatic. A bit romantic."
Special Correspondents, which is due for release in 2016, is a remake of the French comedy of the same name and will star Gervais, Eric Bana, Vera Farmiga and America Ferrera.
It charts the mishaps of New York radio journalist Frank (Bana), who fakes frontline war reports on Iraq from his Manhattan office.
Gervais, who also wrote and directed the film, stars alongside Bana as Frank's sidekick Ian Finch.
Gervais also announced he will be releasing a soundtrack as his The Office character David Brent for Life on the Road, the character’s big-screen debut in summer 2016.
The album will be released on Juxtaposition Records (the same name given to a fictional label created by Brent), and will feature "all new tracks".
