Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Honouring the worst achievements in the past year of film, the 40th edition of the Golden Raspberry Awards went on to honour the movie it nominated eight times: Cats.
Tom Hooper’s maligned adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit musical triumphed, taking home six trophies including Worst Picture and Worst Director.
Hooper is now one of a select few to have won both an Oscar and a Razzie – in 2010, he won the Best Director Oscar for The King’s Speech.
Out of its cast, James Corden and Rebel Wilson – who mocked the film while presenting at the Oscars – were deemed the weakest links.
Wilson herself beat co-star Judi Dench to the award for Worst Supporting Actress, a nomination Dench did not realise she’d received until last week.
Other winners included John Travolta, Hilary Duff and Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo: Last Blood.
Meanwhile, the Razzie Redeemer Awards – handed to a past nominee or winner who received acclaim for a recent performance – went to Eddie Murphy for Netflix film Dolemite Is My Name.
