It's been reported by TMZ that the Bonnie and Clyde co-stars will present the Academy Award despite being heavily involved in last year's blunder which sent shockwaves across Hollywood after naming the incorrect winner.
TMZ reports that the pair were seen at the Dolby Theatre where the Oscars take place yesterday (1 March) where they rehearsed the Best Picture announcement where Dunaway reportedly describing presenting as “better the second time around.” Beatty quipped: “The winner is Gone with the Wind.”
Following last year's mix-up - which saw La La Land incorrectly handed Moonlight's trophy - the accounting firm in charge of tabulating the evening's winners, Pricewaterhouse Cooper later took full responsibility for the blunder, naming Brian Cullinan as the one to have given Beatty the incorrect envelope.
The Academy's initial statement saluted “the tremendous grace they displayed under the circumstances,” adding: “To all involved - including our presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway, the filmmakers, and our fans watching worldwide - we apologise.”
Last year's host Jimmy Kimmel will return to present once again for a ceremony that is sure to take on a new light in the wake of the Time's Up movement.
This year's Best Picture nominees include Call Me By Your Name, Dunkirk, Get Out, The Shape of Water and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
