Spotlight, about the Boston Globe’s investigation into the scandal and cover-up of child molestation in the Catholic Church, is the current favourite to win while The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as a 19th century fur trapper hellbent on revenge is following in hot pursuit to grab the gong.

The Oscars take place on Sunday 28 February. Chris Rock is set to host, despite calls for him to stand down in the wake of another #OscarsSoWhite diversity crisis.
No black actors were nominated for awards for the second year running, prompting the likes of Will Smith, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Spike Lee to rule themselves off the attendees list.
