Where do you go from winning the ultimate prize - The Academy Award?

This year's winner, Brie Larson, has a few ideas up her sleeve; after picking up the Best Actress gong for her utterly committed performance as an abduction victim in Room. First up: join the Marvel cinematic universe, striding out on stage at Comic-Con 2016 to confirm she'll be taking up the role of Captain Marvel, set for her own solo film in 2019.

Next on her schedule? The small thing of making her directorial debut. Yes, the inimitable Brie Larson will be stepping behind the lens for indie comedy Unicorn Store (via The Hollywood Reporter), which she'll both also produce and star in.

Larson does, thankfully, already have some experience in the field; having co-directed and co-written short film The Arm, which won the jury prize at Sundance in 2012.

Based off a screenplay by newcomer Samantha McIntyre, Larson will play Kit who, after moving back in with her parents, has her entire idea of adulthood tested by an invitation to quite the unique shop. Rebel Wilson had previously been attached to the project, with Youth in Revolt's Miguel Arteta directing.

There's no word yet on when Unicorn Store is expected to hit cinemas.
