From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The first trailer for Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood has been released.

Starring a bustling ensemble that includes Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie, the director's ninth feature is set to be a landmark entry into his filmography - a period piece exploring hippie culture and the Hollywood studio system in late 1960s Los Angeles around the time of the infamous Manson Family Murders.

Tarantino, whose most recent film was The Hateful Eight, worked on the film's script for five years and is reportedly hurrying to get the film ready in time for this year's Cannes Film Festival, which begins in May.

Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood will follow a faded TV actor (DiCaprio) and his stunt double (Pitt) who strive to achieve fame and success in the film industry.

Other stars to appear in the film include Al Pacino, Dakota Fanning, Damien Lewis, Lena Dunham and Bruce Dern. Burt Reynolds and Luke Perry will appear in the film posthumously.

Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood will be released in the UK on 14 August.
