South Korea's acclaimed auteur Bong Joon Ho is proving he can create monsters of all shapes and sizes.

Some of them truly frightening, like the horrendously mutated fish that goes on the rampage in The Host, and some of them desperately adorable, like the titular hippo-like creature of his latest, Okja.

Netflix is set to premiere the film at Cannes this week, with a first full trailer revealing all the delights this eccentric film promises to unleash.

Co-written by Joon Ho and Jon Ronson, Okja tells the story of a young girl, Mija (Ahn Seo-hyun), who lives deep in the forests of Gangwon Province, South Korea.

However, Mija must face up to the mighty beast of corporate capitalism, as she tries to prevent Lucy Mirando (Tilda Swinton) and her company from kidnapping her best friend, Okja.

The film certainly boasts an impressive cast, including Paul Dano, Jake Gyllenhaal, Lily Collins, Byn Hee-bong, Steven Yeun, and Shirley Henderson.

Okja launches globally on Netflix on 28 June.
