Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - Trailer

Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Ben Affleck visited Jimmy Kimmel Live armed with a second Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer last night, and the first one to really give us a proper look at the Man of Steel sequel.

The three-minute clip served up four interesting moments:

- A tense meeting between Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne

Kent: “Civil liberties are being tramped on in your city. People are living in fear. "[Batman] thinks he's above the law."

Wayne: The Daily Planet criticising people who think they're above the laws is a little hypocritical, wouldn't you say? Considering every time your hero saves a cat out of a tree, you write a puff piece editorial… about an alien who can burn the whole place down.”

- A proper look at Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor, who it seems will intentionally be more neurotic than menacing

- The arrival of super villain Doomsday

- Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman rescuing Superman and Batman, and apparently bringing the pair together following their feud

Warned by his butler Alfred about “going to war”, Batman fumes: "That son of a bitch brought the war to us!”.

There are also a few references to earlier Batman films, including a nod to The Joker.

The trailer follows a teaser released earlier in the week that saw Superman unmask a chained up Batman.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has a release date of March 25 in the UK and the US.
