Last year's Ex Machina was a sleeper hit from writer-director Alex Garland that went on to become scoop the visual effects trophy from under the nose of Star Wars at this year's Oscars.

The latest thriller that seems it could follow in the same footsteps is Morgan, the trailer of which has just been released.

Starring Kate Mara, Paul Giamatti and Toby Jones, the film follows a corporate troubleshooter who must decide whether or not to terminate an artificial being that was created in a remote, top-secret laboratory.

Rounding out the cast are former Game of Thrones actor Rose Leslie, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Anya-Taylor Joy who'll take on the role of the genetically-engineered Morgan who seems very much like Alicia Vikander's Ex Machina character.

Joy recently appeared in a star-making turn in Robert Eggers chiller The Witch.

Morgan will be released this September.
