And it's a question she's clearly put some very careful thought into before now

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

It's a question we all ask ourselves at some point in our lives: which A-lister would portray our undoubtedly thrilling and glamorous life onscreen in our inevitable biopic?

Sure, for the vast majority of us, it's only idle speculation; but when you're Meryl Streep, that's a question you might actually seriously need to start asking yourself at some point.

Which perhaps makes it fairly unsurprising that the Oscar-winning actress was able to answer The Huffington Post's breaching of the matter without a moment's hesitation; delivering a quick, "Amy Schumer, of course".

Schumer's not known for her impressions, so it's hard to tell whether she'd be able to land Streep's ever-melodious voice on camera; yet, with such golden comic timing, Schumer would certainly be a deft hand at recreating iconic moments from the likes of Death Becomes Her and The Devil Wears Prada.

Funnily enough, Schumer soon got wind of Streep's declaration; tweeting a shocked, "Holy s**t." Does that count as a yes, then?

Streep's latest film Florence Foster Jenkins finally got its US release last week; in which she brings to life Florence's bizarre life, as an heiress who once sold out New York's Carnegie Hall, even though she was utterly tone deaf.
