Megyn Kelly apparently called a scene with Margot Robbie in new drama Bombshell “bulls**t”, while her former colleague Julie Zann said it was “unfactual and victim-shaming”.

The former Fox News host attended a screening of Bombshell with other former network staffers and filmed their reactions to it.

The film stars Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, and Margot Robbie, and examines the build-up towards the scandal surrounding the company’s founding executive Roger Alies, who was accused of sexual harassment.

Ailes, who died in 2017, denied the claims.

Kelly and her former Fox co-workers Juliet Huddy, Rudi Bakhtiar and Zann did not approve of the scene in which Robbie’s character Kayla Pospisle calls out Megyn Kelly for her silence.

Bakhtiar and Kelly called the scene “bullshit”, Variety reports, and Zann later said in a roundtable: “When I saw that scene I thought it was shameful, because its unfactual and it is victim-shaming, and this is a movie about sexual harassment.

“This is sending the wrong message,” she added. “You were just a real support system and I know that it wasn’t just me. It was for a lot of other people.”

However, Kelly said she would not want to cut the scene because it represented a regretful moment in her career.

“I’ve looked back on my own life, every moment from that moment forward and I do wish I had done more. Even though I was powerless, even though it would’ve been a suicidal move for me career-wise, what if I had just said, ‘screw it?'” a tearful Kelly said. “Maybe that wouldn’t have happened to you [Zann].”

Bombshell has received a number of award nominations, including Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress for Theron and Robbie at the Golden Globes.

Both actors are also nominated at the 2020 Baftas.
