Matthew McConaughey has revealed that his father died while having sex with the actor’s mother.

The Hollywood star opened up about the death of his father, James, in his new memoir, which is titled Greenlights.

In an excerpt from the new book obtained by People, McConaughey said that his father predicted he would die during intercourse.

"He was my dad. Nobody or nothing could kill him. Except mom. He'd always told me and my brothers, 'Boys, when I go, I'm gonna be makin' love to your mother.'

“And that's what happened,” McConaughey continued. “He had a heart attack when he climaxed.”

McConaughey’s father died aged 63 in 1992 when the Hollywood star was 23.

Speaking about his own marriage with Camila Alvez and fatherhood, McConaughey told the outlet: “I think I do a pretty good job trying to maintain and care for each relationship in my family, well enough, so it doesn't get to a point where I'm exacerbated or have to raise my voice.”

Greenlights will be released on 20 October. It’s expected to chart the actor’s personal views on his rise to fame and career to date.
