This election is still a dead heat, according to most polls. In a fight with such wafer-thin margins, we need reporters on the ground talking to the people Trump and Harris are courting. Your support allows us to keep sending journalists to the story.

Captain America: Civil War may not be in cinemas yet, but already Marvel bosses are planning the next stage in their Cinematic Universe.

We’re not just talking about all those Phase Three films, though (Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Thor: Ragnarok etc). We’re talking beyond Avengers: Infinity War to Phase Four. Thanks to Marvel’s chief Kevin Feige, we now know what to expect post-Thanos.

“We’re only working on what’s been announced through the end of 2019,” he told io9. “And it is still a big chess board for 2020 and beyond, but certainly I would say Guardians 3 is one film that’s up there. I don’t know what exactly the order will be.”

James Gunn previously said that Marvel had approached him to the write the script for the second sequel, yet had not signed up yet. Currently, Gunn - who scripted and directed the first Guardians of the Galaxy and its upcoming sequel - is working on Vol. 2.

Marvel has three ‘as-yet-untitled’ films set for 2020, with Guardians 3 heavily rumoured to take on of those slots. Now, it looks almost definite.

Also slated to be released that year is a follow-up to the Sony/Marvel collaboration Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker debuting in Civil War.

Elsewhere, Feige recently said that Inhumans - which was thought to be the final Phase Three film - will likely be pushed back in the future.
