An actor from the forthcoming Ant-Man sequel has seemingly confirmed a dramatic change to one of the film’s key characters.

The title of the third Ant-Man film, Ant-Man: Quantumania, was announced by Disney last week, with several details about the Marvel Cinematic Universe entry also being confirmed.

This included the news that Cassie Lang, the daughter of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), aka Ant-Man, would no longer be played by Avengers: Endgame's Emma Fuhrmann.

Fuhrmann played an older Cassie, after Scott disappeared for five years of her life during his sojourn into the quantum realm.

In Quantumania, Cassie Lang will be played by Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies; The Society).

While the fact that the role had even been recast had already prompted speculation that Cassie might have a larger role in the new film, an Instagram post from Newton seemed to further allude to this.

“Last night I dreamed of being a superhero,” she wrote, alongside the hashtags “marvel”, “STATURE” and “CASSIELANG”.

In the Marvel comics, Cassie becomes a superhero named Stature, who shares her father’s ability to grow and shrink to any size.

Some fans have suggested that this could mean that Cassie Lang will be elevated in the third Ant-Man film, ahead of an even more prominent role in the rumoured Young Avengers film.
