Fox is currently airing Beat Shazam, a contest hosted by Jamie Foxx with a premise that is actually quite fun, contestants having to guess songs before Shazam does in order to win money.
It saw a truly weird moment in a recent episode however when Foxx surprised contestants by bringing Mariah Carey out on stage following a Mariah Carey music-related question. But why was she there? After watching the full clip several times, I still have no idea.
Mariah is hugged by contestants, who absolutely freak out over her presence, before sitting behind a mic'd up piano, causing the audience to chant her name in anticipation of a song.
A song never comes though, she just sits there and receives compliment after compliment from Foxx and the contestants, one of whom shouts: "YOU ARE EVERYTHING! YOU ARE EVERYTHING!"
After the answer to the Mariah question is revealed, she then just gets up off the piano stool and exits, having literally done and said approximately nothing.
Was she supposed to perform a track? Did she but it ended up being cut?
"It was very strange. There must be something edited out," one viewer mused on Reddit. "Either she refused to sing or sounded like shit."
