From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Mad Max: Fury Road has dropped a new trailer, teasing more desert-based mayhem in what promises to be a 'continuous chase' movie.

I can't imagine there's much demand for a Mad Max sequel, but it doesn't seem to be nostalgia driving interest in it, just the fact that visually it looks stunning.

Described as a "Western on wheels", the film is set in a barren apocalyptic world which, as Uproxx noted, looks like Burning Man if it was run by Slayer fans.

"Even if it's in the future, we have gone back [to] the more elemental behaviours," director George Miller commented. "More medieval. The setting is very spare and clear."

Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron star along with Nicholas Hoult, whose unhinged character is seen for the first time in this trailer.

Hardy takes over from Mel Gibson as protagonist Max Rockatansky (genuinely the character's name), with the story following on from the original films.

Mad Max: Fury Road has a release date of May 15, 2015.
