Love Island 2018: The ITV2 show might be getting a winter series ahead of summer return
Muggy behaviour but less muggy weather
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Breaking Bad couldn't resist a prequel; Game of Thrones couldn't resist a spin-off; will Love Island (yes, I'm talking about these three shows in the same breath) make it to summer 2018 without airing a between series series?
Given what a huge success and national talking point it was for ITV2, a bi-annual edition of Love Island must have crossed their minds, and indeed it seems like the broadcaster is tempted.
2017 contestant Chloe Crowhurst told MailOnline of her recent TV stints: "I love doing This Morning and they loved having me. There might be something with me coming back as their reporter for Winter Love Island."
She then added, perhaps optimistically: 'I'd love to be a presenter on the Winter Love Island series as well - which might work out."
What a winter version of the show would look like is unclear. Would it head to a part of the southern hemisphere where it's warm in December? Or would it be more a Love Cabin? Would there be Christmas, with giant condoms serving as stockings?
