London-born actress to star in new Disney film 'Lemonade Mouth'
The London-born starlet Naomi Scott, 18, is the star of the new Disney Channel Original Movie Lemonade Mouth, about a high school band, which airs in the UK next month. The music-driven film, which is a cross between High School Musical and The Breakfast Club, is already a hit in America, along with it's soundtrack, ever since it premiered in April.
But currently sitting at home in her bedroom in north-east London, where Scott lives with her Indian mother and British father, she hears about its popularity from her co-stars in Los Angeles. "Haley [Kiyoko] who plays Stella Yamada in the band said she can't go out without being recognised. There is a real buzz around the show now," says Scott.
Scott plays guitarist Mohini (Mo) Banjaree, one of the five high school students who meet in detention and form a band, Lemonade Mouth.
Scott was discovered when she sang at an event at her local church, where British pop singer-turned agent Kelle Bryan from the all-girl band Eternal signed her as a client. After starring in Disney Channel UK's series Life Bites, she was cast in the Steven Spielberg-produced science fiction television drama Terra Nova, which launches in the US in September. She plays Maddy Shannon, a time-travelling teenager living in the year 2149.
'Lemonade Mouth' premieres on 16 September at 6pm on the Disney Channel. The soundtrack is out now
