Letitia Wright hospitalised after accident on set of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

She is said to have suffered ‘minor injuries’

Letitia Wright has been hospitalised following an accident on the set of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Deadline report that Wright suffered “minor injuries” following an incident with a stunt rig.

Marvel said in a statement: “Letitia Wright sustained minor injuries today while filming a stunt for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She is currently receiving care in a local hospital and is expected to be released soon.”

The report claims that Wright has since been released from hospital and the incident is not expected to delay filming.

Whilst the incident took place in Boston, the film has been mostly shot in Atlanta and started in June.

In the film, Wright will be reprising her role as Shuri from the first Black Panther. She will be joined by Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, Florence Kasumba and Angela Bassett.

Ryan Coogler is also returning as director.

I May Destroy You star and creator, Michaela Coel, was confirmed to join the film last month in as yet unknown role.

Black Panther was originally led by the late Chadwick Boseman, who played the titular superhero. He died of colon cancer in August 2020.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is scheduled to be released 8 July 2022.
